It is located between the western slopes of the Three Crowns and the eastern slopes of the Podskalnia Góra within the Pieniński National Park. It falls from the southern slopes of the Szopka Pass to Sromowce Niżne. It is one of the most beautiful and largest Pieniny gorges, its steep and closely spaced walls form a canyon. The bottom of the gorge flows Szopczański Stream with crystal clear water, which flows into Macelowy Potok. The gorge looks particularly impressive in autumn, when the white crags of the limestone walls contrast with the colorful autumn leaves. The gorge-growing forest is characterized by a large variety of species of trees and shrubs. A yellow tourist trail leads from the gorge from Sromowce Niżne next to the "Trzy Korony" hostel on the Szopka Pass.
